K.I.S.S. - Keep it simple, stupid!
KISS is recommended in so many industries, and in the design field it is truer than ever. Design is a dynamic and communicative field where countless elements come together to convey the intended message. But the more you add to a design, the more cluttered it becomes and the more likely it is that the message will get muddled. That's why it's so important that a website's design is simple so that the message can be communicated effectively.
Here are a few tips on how to comply with KISS -
Simple is always better. Make it visible, not visual.
The task of a designer is to communicate in the simplest possible way.
Clean, clear and concise is more useful than flashy and cluttered! Eliminate the clutter and make the site easy to navigate.
Keep your design simple so people can focus on the content.
For a good design, I recommend using a maximum of two fonts and no more than 3 colors to keep it simple and avoid confusion.
Don't overcomplicate your design. Occam's razor" says that the simplest explanation is most likely the correct one.
Making the simple complicated is commonplace. Making the complicated simple - incredibly simple - that's creativity. That is design.
If it serves no purpose, take it away. Ultimately, additional graphics only serve as a distraction.
