What is user experience or UI/UX and why is it important?
Here is a brief explanation of UI vs. UX
UI design refers to the design of the user interface of a digital product, such as a website, software or an app. UX design, on the other hand, refers to the overall user experience that a user has when using a machine or digital product (website, software, app).
Why is this important?
There is only one chance to make a good first impression, so let's make sure that first impression is perfect!
We know from our own experience that if an experience in a store, restaurant or even on a website is unsatisfactory and we don't find what we are looking for, or the service is poor, we will leave immediately and most likely never come back.
Most visitors to a website decide within a few seconds whether to stay on the site or leave immediately. So if you have a business, your visitors' experience on your website will play a crucial role in attracting new customers and prospects.
A good user interface is so seamless that we don't even think about it - we just use it, get what we need, and move on. On the other hand, a bad user experience tends to make us frustrated, impatient, even angry - and we'll remember that negative experience for a long time to come.
The most important ingredients for a great user experience on a website are:
A clear information architecture
Target groups Research and what this group is looking for
Content strategy
Visual design
Typography
Functionality
Interaction design
Developing a website that achieves the desired results requires a lot of planning, research, design and testing. To really understand our users, we need to look at the whole process from the user's perspective. We need to follow their thought process when thinking about the structure, content and visual design of the website, i.e. what needs, wants, habits and expectations might they have?
With this in mind, the best way to create a good user experience is to involve your target audience in the planning and design process and gather their feedback and requirements before we start designing and also before launch and during testing.
Squarespace templates are designed and built with best practices for user interface and user experience. This means that form and function are built right in. Responsive web design (RWD) is also built in automatically, meaning your website will work on any device and on any screen. The size and content look equally good on all devices.
