What are the most important elements for a successful website?

We all know that every company, no matter how small or large, should have a good website to promote its services or products.

But what makes a good website and why are some so successful and others don't work at all? I've done some research and here's a list of the most important elements for a successful website:

1. a website needs a clear objective

A successful website needs clear goals that are derived from the marketing strategy and the company goals. When planning the site, you should answer the following questions:

  • Who is the target group?

  • What solutions do you offer the target group?

  • What are you particularly good at and what sets you apart from the competition?

2. successful websites help to solve customers' problems

Think about which customers you are creating the website for and which problems your services or products solve. If your website can't help your customers, then you're missing an opportunity. Helping and solving problems is the new selling!

3. gain the trust of your potential customers

Before you try to sell your services or products, you need to gain the trust of your potential customers. You can achieve this with an excellent "About Us" page as well as competence and honesty. It is also very helpful if your visitors can connect with you on social media and follow your regular updates.

4. outstanding user experience (UX) - user experience

With a well-thought-out website structure, layout and navigation, you make it easy for your visitors to find the information they are looking for. It is particularly important that the page loads quickly, that the user needs as few clicks as possible to reach their destination and that the page can also be read on a smartphone or tablet without any problems.

5. excellent content is the be-all and end-all

The content of a website is the backbone of your online presence

  • Good content convinces your visitors to take action

  • good content generates trust

  • Google needs your content to find you

  • Good content generates more visitors to your website

By content, I don't just mean text, but also images, graphics and video. With these different forms of content, you are able to reach a wider circle of potential customers for your website, blog and social media. If you share your content regularly, you will increase your readership and therefore potential customers who will come back regularly.

6. appealing design

An outdated and confusing design repels potential customers and ensures that they leave the site straight away. Visitors who leave immediately can no longer be won as customers and a high bounce rate leads to a poor ranking in the search engines.

A successful design is clear, loads quickly and is "responsive", i.e. it automatically adapts to any screen size and is therefore easy to read and navigate for every user.
